Job Purpose
The Digital Product Controller will manage and implement assigned key initiatives within the
company's digital product strategy, ensuring alignment with the business objectives of client
stakeholders and the wider strategy. Responsible for implementing the agreed backlog of
features for the company's web, mobile, and app properties. Develop and utilize subject matter
expertise while putting the customer first and ensuring best-in-class brand user experience,
interaction design, and content development. Act as a champion for the broader digital strategy
and ensure all assets adhere to the company's brand guidelines. Ensure projects are delivered
to scope, quality, and timelines.
In this Role You Will:
– Collaborate: Work with the wider Digital Experience team, IT, and business stakeholders to
increase the value of existing, established products through product optimization. Identify
areas where technical capabilities are not fully leveraged and drive product enhancements.
– Own all product-related documentation and briefing/hand-off documentation, including
product requirements, design briefs, and test criteria.
– Conduct User Acceptance Testing of product enhancements to ensure customer experience
quality and consistency standards have been met.
– Collaborate with Customer Strategy & Retention to ensure any UX enhancements support
the communication strategy and customer journey vision.
– Digital Experience Roadmap: Assist in the creation and execution of the Digital Experience
roadmap set by the Digital Product Owner(s). Work in collaboration with Digital Analytics,
Digital Research, and Design teams to:
– Understand customer expectations from the digital experience.
– Utilize digital channels analytics to drive understanding of user behaviour that will support
timely and informed product decision-making. Support Product Owners in gathering and
interpreting customer data and insights from research outputs.
– Develop hypotheses that can be validated through appropriate quantitative and qualitative
tests to create customer-focused digital experiences that are intuitive, engaging, and
personalized.
– Work with Digital Product Owners to document scope and requirements for all new
products/capabilities, including:
– Ownership of all product-related documentation and briefing/hand-off documentation,
including product requirements, design, and test criteria.
– Identification and documentation of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and additional phases
that will deliver improved customer experience/increased revenue in the shortest time.
– Conduct User Acceptance Testing of new product features and capabilities to ensure
customer experience quality and consistency with company standards.
– Liaise with IT and relevant departments on the planning and delivery of product launches to
global audiences, ensuring agreed sign-off and rollout procedures are met.
– Recommendations and Trends: Provide recommendations to Group & Central Portfolios
MMC/MCMs against briefs and business unit requirements to support the effective fulfilment
of digital marketing campaigns. Stay updated on changes and trends in digital user experience
and product management, identify opportunities, and share these with the wider team (UX
team and MMC team).
– Content Maintenance: Ensure that all content on the sites within the assigned portfolio is
maintained and updated when required, including producing content briefs for the Digital
Production team to work from and, in some instances, updating content directly in Umbraco
when required.
– Data Analysis: Work with the analytics and insight team to interpret data, analyze results
using statistical techniques to identify trends and analysis relating to key digital products.
Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
– Education: Degree or Honours in Marketing or similar (12+3 or equivalent).
– Experience: 5+ years in Marketing & Media Communication with experience in Product
Technology.
– Skills:
– An ongoing desire to learn and excel in a highly collaborative, multi-faceted department.
– Strong understanding of web, mobile, and app technologies and experiences working with
them.
– Skilled and experienced in the use of product and software development tools (Jira,
Confluence, Figma/Sketch, and other product planning/management tools).
– Data-driven design skills, knowledge, production value, and attention to detail.
– Proficient with user experience/interface design patterns, processes, and standard UCD
methodologies.
– Coordinate usability testing and research to define and refine existing and/or new interfaces.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Skilled and experienced in common software project management and development
practices.
– A good understanding of web standards and accessibility standards.
– Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, (iOS), (Android) is a plus.
