Location: Onsite – Dubai, UAE
Engagement: Contractual
Duration: 12-Months (Extendable | Long-Term on Marc Ellis Payroll)

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Technology Engineer with strong expertise in both MongoDB and
PostgreSQL administration, architecture, and performance optimization. The role involves managing
enterprise-scale database environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security across both
platforms. In addition, the engineer will drive automation initiatives using modern tools and scripting to
enhance reliability, streamline operations, and support continuous delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Experiences:

• Bachelor’s/Postgraduate degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience working in large organizations.
• Previous banking or financial services background is an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills:

Database Skills – MongoDB & PostgreSQL:

• Strong knowledge of database administration, architecture, and internals.
• Proven expertise in high availability, clustering, replica sets, and sharding.
• Experience with backup/restore mechanisms, patching, and upgrades.
• Hands-on knowledge of performance tuning, diagnostics, and database migrations.
• Proficiency in auditing, logging, and security practices.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Ops Manager, custom dashboards).

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with modern automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform).
• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, Groovy.
• Familiarity with Agile working practices.

Soft Skills:

• Ability to work under pressure and handle production-critical incidents.
• Strong professional communication skills.
• Ability to self-manage and take ownership of deliverables.
• Capability to drive strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
• Ability to manage multiple engineering priorities simultaneously.
